Professional Safe Opening and Combination Recovery
Safe lockouts are a major issue for retail businesses, restaurants, and corporate offices. If you have forgotten the combination, lost the backup key, or if the electronic keypad fails, getting inside requires specialty tools.
Non-Destructive Safe Opening
A skilled safe technician prioritizes opening your vault without causing structural damage to the cabinet:
- Dial Manipulation: For old mechanical dials, a technician can listen to the contact points inside the lock wheels to decode the combination.
- Scoping: The technician drills a tiny hole (often under the dial ring) and inserts a fiber-optic scope to read the wheel gate positions directly. The hole is later plugged with a hardened steel pin, restoring full security rating.
When a business safe stops opening
A safe usually fails to open for one of a handful of reasons: a forgotten or mistyped combination, a dial that has drifted out of calibration, a dead keypad battery, a bent bolt or a lock that has worn. Before calling, check the simple things. Replace the batteries in an electronic keypad, try the combination slowly and precisely, and confirm nobody changed it recently. If a manager left the company, look for a written record kept in the office.
What to have ready for the technician
Note the make and model printed inside the door or on the label, and tell us whether the safe is used for cash, records or stock. We will need to confirm that you are authorised to open it, for example with a business licence, a lease or a letter from the owner. Opening without damage takes patience, and the time depends on the lock type and condition.
Avoiding a repeat
After the safe is open, change the combination, write it down in a secure place and record who knows it. Ask about servicing the dial or replacing worn parts so it does not fail again. We serve shops and offices across Brampton, Vaughan and Etobicoke, and you can read about changing a combination on an electronic deadbolt for the door-side equivalent.
