Service Highlights
- New and replacement deadbolts
- Reinforced strike plates
- Long screws into the frame
- Keypad and high-security options
- Door drilling done carefully
A deadbolt is only as strong as the door and frame around it. We fit the bolt, then reinforce the strike so the lock does its job under load.
Who calls us about this
- Your door has only a knob lock.
- A deadbolt sticks or the bolt does not extend fully.
- You want a stronger lock after a break-in nearby.
- You are adding a keypad deadbolt.
How the visit goes
- We inspect the door, edge and frame.
- We recommend a deadbolt that fits.
- We drill, fit and align it.
- We install a strike plate with long screws and test.
What we look at
- The door’s thickness and material
- The frame where the strike sits
- Screw length into the framing
- Whether a keypad or high-security model suits you
What affects the price
The lock you choose, whether the door needs drilling and any frame reinforcement.
Before you call
Measure nothing; just tell us the door material and thickness if you know it, and send a photo of the door edge.
Good to know
Choose a deadbolt with a bolt that extends at least 2.5 centimetres into the frame where possible, and a strike plate secured with long screws that reach the wall stud. Many deadbolts fail because of the frame, not the lock.
When this is not the right fix
A hollow or damaged door may not hold a deadbolt well. We may recommend a door repair or replacement first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a double-cylinder deadbolt?
Usually not. They can be unsafe if you need a key to leave in a fire. Many doors are better served by a single-cylinder deadbolt and a strong strike.
Can you add a deadbolt to a door that has none?
Yes, if the door is thick enough and in good shape. We check before drilling.
